Connor and I make it down to the cafeteria where everyone is gathered around a table, ready to eat. The place seems so strange when there are no students around. It is always filled with people. Now only the table that we are all using is the only one lit with candles and the lamp overhead. The rest of the room looks dark and empty yet it feels welcoming because we are all gathered together as a family.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” Tinsley asks me as we walk up to them.
“Same I guess... I’m okay.” I say as I cover the bump on my forehead with my hair.
“Don’t you dare hide who you are!” Garnet says. “You don’t have to hide anything from us. We are all f****d up here so that...” She points at my head. “...that is nothing.”
