I stumble into a dirty ditch, my heart stopping before I lift my gaze, and his scent reaches me to calm me down.
“Oh, sorry, my love,” Kai mutters, helping me out of the side of the road and pulling at my dress that got splattered with dirt. “I was a little bit too excited. But where were you running to anyway?”
Studying his beaming face as Ace comes closer, I shake my head, my thoughts spiralling as my common sense clicks in. “A witch… She attacked us and was telling us strange things, so… I tried to catch her and ask her a few things, but she was too fast.”
“Attacked you,” his eyes wander to Ace, and just as I think he will say something about it or ask me more, his face lights up again. “You have to see this!”
