I gasp for air as I come back to my senses, inhaling in shock as I balance myself on the steep ground, and I panic as I am unable to find something to grip on the flat surface.
“Breathe,” Kai’s deep voice orders me nonchalantly. “I would never let you fall.”
Lying flat on my back by the moment I manage to stabilize myself on what my drowsy mind recognizes as a roof, I take a deep inhale, calming down my erratic breathing pattern. “You are such an asshole.”
“I know,” he just mutters, his feet fidgeting over the uneven tiles.
I lift my gaze, the back of my head scratching over the rough ground, and I look at him as he is sitting behind me. He flashes me a sad smile, his forearms put leisurely on his knees while his ankles are crossed.
