After Ariella's successful exit from his realm Zeli was left looking for any loopholes in his immortality that was now not so certain. He went through all spells and magic he had access to putting a lot of focus on what the sword of life and death could do. For a second there he regretted coming out of the shadows. He was just doing fine, though he was alone, back in his realm with no one trying to kill him. Before all the battle of superiority stuff with Leon and Ariella he never thought of dying. And then it was the dominant thought in his head. Death, countless times he could see his lifeless body with a giant sword through his heart, drowning in his blood with people celebrating his death.
