The call.
Hello
(She answered after I waited 10 minutes for her to come to the phone... (I hesitated, not sure where to start.)
Uhm hi,
Ava?
Yeah, so... uhm... how are you?
As well as can be under the circumstances, how are you?
Could be better.
(The silence hung between us and I pictured her standing at a phone booth, the telephone pressed tightly between her shoulder and ear, chewing on her lips as she waited for me to tell her the reason for this call.)
So, I... I wanted you to know that I have considered your request... Hudson and I have thought long and hard about it and, well, we have come to an agreement... (she gasped slightly) we will do it.
