For a good long moment, it hurt. Hurt more than anything she could've possibly done to me. My brain felt like it was full of bees, an angry swarm of thoughts. 'I have nothing to apologize for,' was one; 'she should apologize to me' was another one, and of course, 'f**k her, who does she think she is.' I let the thoughts burrow into my skin, I let it all hurt, and then I let out a slow, gentle breath. This was it.
