The forest was starting to give way to steep drops and rocky paths. Tree roots stretched beside the tread-earth, and the smell of salt thickened with each step. We walked for a very long time. The sun was high in the sky, and the light I'd seen earlier was thinning out against the treeline. I blinked hard against the searing light, though I enjoyed the heat baking my fur.
