“Where are we going?” Cai asked, his hands clasped with mine as I tugged him forward.
I flashed him a wide, secretive smile. “Just trust me.”
He glances around. “I do, but we’ve already crossed the border.”
“I know,” I say with a shrug, continuing to pull him further away from the swamps.
Cai lets me drag him along, happily following regardless of how I haven’t told him a single detail of where we're going. “So where are you taking me?”
A smirk pulls at my lips. There was such a big difference between us walking in the woods now and the first time I woke up as his kidn*pped prize. “You’re not the only one that knows beautiful places, Cai.”
He walked a little faster, so we were side by side. “I suppose maybe we can make a game out of it.”
