There was a sudden silence between us, the only sound coming from the wind that blew and the harsh crackles from the fire that burned away the mansion. How could silence be so loud and feel so empty? How could silence be so suffocating and feel so helpless? It was so much worse because we always knew what to say to each other, even when we were fighting. The only time I can remember this kind of silence happening to us was right before he handed me over to Veles Rhys. Despite the fact that we were both standing beside each other, our hands clasped tightly, our shoulders touching, it felt like we were suddenly worlds apart.
