"You don't get it, Esmeralda!" Ivy was furious.
After leaving Jonathon’s home, we went to a clearing to discuss things. Ivy immediately told me she preferred to die. She didn’t want to be linked to Kaid, and although I understood her reasoning, I couldn’t let her die. I had to convince her that there was another way.
“I don’t; I won’t lie to you,” I answered calmly. I didn’t want to lose my temper because that wouldn’t be helpful in this situation. “But risking your life is not worth it, Ivy.”
“This isn’t a life; I have to be constantly on the run because a crazy man is after me, and to make matters worse, my mate put a target on my back,” she began blurting out. “All I want is peace and freedom, but apparently, that is too much to ask for!”
