Jamie was overjoyed to see Freyja after she’d been gone the last several years, and it was a great surprise not only to be back to Akiko and Leif but to have Freyja back too. He’d missed her dearly, but he never brought her up to save Leif the pain of thinking about her. No one had explained yet why she was there, but Jamie didn’t care. His family was back together. He could tell Akiko wasn’t as enthused about Freyja, but she wouldn’t tell him why. Jamie planned to take Akiko to their favorite local Mexican restaurant, and the group was amenable to doing the same. Once they were seated, Akiko rested her head on his shoulder, just enjoying his scent and being close to him again. She happily munched on salsa and queso, being careful to avoid spilling any on her or Jamie.
