Delilah's POV His words hung in the air between us like a death sentence. The night's still young. I stepped around him without responding and forced my legs to keep moving even though they felt like jelly. My heart hammered against my ribs and my hands shook as I gripped the tray, but I couldn't let him see how badly he'd rattled me. Don't react. Don't give him the satisfaction. I made my way back to the drink station and set down the empty tray with movements that were probably too careful, too controlled. Patricia barely glanced at me as she loaded more champagne glasses onto a fresh tray. "Tables six and seven need refills," she said without looking up.
