The wind blew my hair across my face and I couldn’t help reaching up and tucking it back behind my ears. I could feel the heat of the sun on my shoulders, the cap that I was wearing not doing much in terms of protecting anything other than my face. Once my view was no longer obstructed, I once again found myself looking at the girls, watching them play in the backyard. From my place on the porch, I was more than capable of watching them, keeping an eye on them. Not that they needed to be looked after anymore. At nearly twelve years old they had become more than capable of keeping an eye on their surroundings, as well as being able to spot danger.
