CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT PROM DATE Theo’s “perfect spot” turns out to be a little diner tucked between a laundromat and a flower shop. The kind of place you’d blink and miss if you weren’t looking for it. To be fair, I rarely eat out. Unless, Jack decides to spoil me. I wonder if that little bug has actually gotten out of his hangover. “This is your idea of impressive?” I tease as we slide into a booth by the window. The red leather squeaks under me, and I have to bite back a laugh. Theo grins, already picking up the menu like it’s sacred scripture. “Don’t underestimate it. Best fries in town. Ask anyone.” The waitress brings us water, and Theo leans forward, lowering his voice conspiratorially. “The trick is to order the fries with extra seasoning. Life-changing. You’ll thank me later.”
