Lita woke up feeling strangely out of place. She rolled to her back and stared at the ceiling running her hands sideways to reach for Diarmid as it dawned on her they had shared a bed and didn’t have s*x. True to his word, they’d watched the fireplace, talked until the wee hours of the morning, and fell asleep in each other’s arms. She rolled over and noted he was not in bed and grimaced. Music filtered into the open bedroom door and she wondered where he had gone and why the music was so loud. She crawled out of the biggest bed she had ever been in, smiling as she remembered him telling her he’d had to pay a mint to get a custom mattress fabricated. He had admitted he could have just had the one in Boston shipped to him but the thought of Della’s germs being in his bed freaked him out.
