The second he said that, Logan turned his neck around to look at Perez and with compassion in his eyes, he said,
"Teach the young ones to defend your home and not just the grown ups."
Logan quickly left Perez the second he said that, knowing that Perez will need so much of his help of which he was not willing to offer. He never wanted to be king, he felt it was full of responsibilities of which he was not ready for. His mind tells him that Perez will definitely run away from it in no distant time should he try to take it up as a responsibility. But then, the battle of that very day, though won, needs a sustaining force and the only way was to mount armies around the city walls day and night as it was in the days of Jayson, the father of Aurora who died and has now returned a vampire.
