Kinsey felt her heart breaking as she walked away from Gerri, heading for her office with Simone's arm around her shoulders. She heard the heavy thud of boots approach from behind, bit back the detective's name as Gerri strode past them, stomping around the corner at the top of the stairs and out of sight. Seeing her friend disappear that way almost pulled Kinsey free of the woman beside her. Almost.
