I don’t know how I managed to fall asleep, but I was out the whole night, and I probably would have continued sleeping on had it not been for the biting cold that woke me up.
This was an intense kind of cold.
The kind that not even a thousand blankets could get rid of… the kind that made my bones feel like they’d turned to ice.
My entire body was stiff, and no matter how much I tugged the blanket around myself, it didn’t help. I tried curling up tighter, rolling around as I willed myself to find some warmth, so I wouldn’t have to go out there and face Jaime, but it was useless.
My teeth chattered as I finally forced myself to sit up, my joints protesting the movement.
