(Serena) I woke up the next day feeling good. Better than I had in weeks. I got dressed, grabbed my bag, and headed downstairs. Mom was in the kitchen making coffee. "Morning," she said. "Morning," I replied, grabbing a granola bar from the counter. "You seem happy," she said, looking at me with a smile. "Just ready for school," I said. She nodded. "That's good. Keep it up. Your father and I are proud of how you've been behaving lately." I smiled back. If only she knew. I got in my car and drove to school.
