The next morning, when I walked outside, Elias was waiting for me, leaning casually against his car. His eyes widened the moment he saw me.
“Wow,” he said, stepping closer. “You look…different.”
I smiled, brushing a hand through my hair. “Thank you.”
He shook his head slightly, still staring at me. “You’re beautiful, Avery.”
“Thank you,” I said again, smiling back. I stepped closer and pressed my lips to his, a soft kiss that made him smile in return.
We got into the car, and he started driving. The streets were quiet, the morning sun just coming up. I watched the light hit his face and decided to talk about what had been on my mind.
“Elias,” I said, keeping my voice calm. “I want to understand something. Why do you get jealous when I spend time with Jackson and Luca?”
