“No! No! Don’t! Please!” I shouted and begged for my life while I held Cassandra’s body as close to mine as if protecting her.
Jason’s steps echoed at every move he took to approach me with the whip still in his hand.
I sobbed and leaned down, hugging Cassandra as I dipped my head beside hers. “Cassandra… M-mom… please…”
My heart trembled in unmeasurable heartache as I let out that word. Mom… I never thought I’d ever say those words out loud again.
