They were in the small town hall where over two hundred people had gathered to listen to the great Carib ruler Karuku ‘returned from the dead’. He gathered his thoughts and rose to his feet. “My people,” he began, “remember my name, Karuku, the ruler of these islands many hundreds of years ago.
