CHAPTER SIX   I groaned feeling as though someone stuffed stones in my head. Repressed pulsations of my head muscles made me aware of just how much I got drunk yesterday. I pried my eyes open while managing to sit. Despite the hangover I was currently experiencing it was easy to recognize this wasn't my room and neither was it any room in Julian's house. My clothes were still on which made me feel a little better but still where the f**k was I? Should I begin panicking?   "You know I didn't take you for someone who drinks too much, enough to make you pass out," My gaze flew to the smirking tall figure of Dominic sitting in the couch across the bed.   "Did you kidnap me? My brother will come after you. You have no idea just how close I’m to the Chief of police in NYPD and I have friends in the FBI too," My heart was racing inexplicably. This had to a nightmare that I was going to wake up from soon enough.   He chuckled softly obviously amused by my lame threats but when one of the most feared people in the city is sitting right in front you, lies just tumble out of your lips.   "A normal guy would have said you look cute when ranting but I’m not a normal guy. Still you look cute when you rant," the words slipped off his pink lips that were curved into a slight smirk.   There was something about the way he looked at me that sent chills down my spine. I had to get away from here as fast as possible. I slid off the king size bed, wore my stilettos that were lying carelessly by the bedside and cautiously advanced to the door. All this time I had my eyes focused on him in case he decided to make a move. Even though one part of me was scared that he would intercept my exit, the other part was shocked that he didn't make a single move.   "If I were you I wouldn't do that," was that a threat or a mere warning?   Either way I was already racing down the stairs right into an exquisite living room made up of maple wood floor. I certainly did not expect to see a couple sitting on one of the luxurious cream leather couches chatting off. Upon my presence they looked up with surprised expressions crossing their features. Oh God!   "Oh my! Who do we have here?" I slightly jumped startled while turning to face a younger version of the older couple.   He was holding a cup of what I assumed was hot, steaming coffee with a sexy grin etched perfectly on his lips. His dark hair was a bit longer at the front with a few strands falling perfectly up-to his right eyebrow. Have you ever looked at someone and felt like time just stopped? Well, this guy was definitely one of his kind, with his chiseled looks accentuating a fine, sharp jaw.   "I’m sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. I’m Reed, the hunkier younger brother. So what’s the name of this lovely lady?" This guy was definitely a charmer and I couldn't help the tinge of red on my cheeks. It didn't help the fact that his deep sea green eyes were planted squarely on my face in the most arresting manner.   "That lovely lady is my fiancé, Nicole Wilde," Dominic answered making me shift my gaze towards him.   Fiancée? I didn't agree to that but the hard stare he was benefitting me with, made me shut up my mouth. There was no use intimidating a man rumored to be in the mafia.   "Your what now?" Reed questioned barely managing to hide an amused chuckle.   "Yeah. As much as it is hard to believe Reed, she is my fiancée, “He glared at his younger brother while he circled a protective arm around my waist. It felt like he was marking boundaries and in a strange way it scared the hell out of me.   A cold tremor fell in the pit of my stomach as he dragged me to the couple who were silently watching without saying a single thing. Everything about Dominic just screamed danger. Not the kind of danger that made you want to run but the kind that made you helpless like you literally had no option.   "Mum, Dad meet my fiancée Nicole, “He introduced me while I fought back the dread filling up in my heart.   His mother regarded me for a moment then she stood up slowly as though she was in a trance. I don't know what made me more scared: Was it Dominic's intimidating presence or was it his mother's shocked stare?   "Mum are you okay? “Reed inquired edging closer to his mother.   "I’m just...I’m overwhelmed," and just like that I was engulfed into a tight emotional hug.   Was that wetness on my shoulder? Not sure what to do I massaged her back comfortingly. When she drew back, there were faint streaks of tears in her cheeks. Why the hell was she crying?   "I’m sorry. It’s just that I have been waiting for this moment for a really long time, “She sniffed, smiling lightly.   "Moment of what?" I inquired in confusion.   Was I really kidnapped and they planned it together? A wave of new panic rendered my body as I fought the urge to faint. This could not be possibly happening right now in this awful moment of my life when I had just lost my career.   "Well mum has been trying to fix up big bro here with some of her friends' kids since he was twenty three but it all failed. Honestly I thought he was gay," Reed stated bluntly.   "Oh," That was the only thing that came out of my mouth.   "Dad? Aren't you going to say something?" We all turned to Mr. Valiente who had been quiet the entire time.   He stood up, giving his elder son one hard gaze before pulling him into a hug. Why was Dominic having a fiancée such a big deal to his family?   After a while Mr. Valiente turned to me, an appreciative grin on his rather good looks. Now that explained Reed’s breathtaking looks.   "Welcome to the family Nicole," He hugged me briefly.   "Well, that was something. So do I get a hug too?" Reed had a mischievous grin on his face and for a moment it got my heart stopping.   "Absolutely not brother," Dominic answered on my behalf.   "So how did you two meet?" Mr. Valiente asked.   "I saved her from some guys who were trying to have their way with her," He lied smoothly like it was something he was accustomed to doing.   "How long have you two been together?"   "Four months and let’s just say it’s been...wonderful," His hand had now moved to my shoulder, massaging lightly.   All I could do was scream in my head for him to stop touching me while trying to mask my fear with a slight smile.   "So why did you keep this from us? I mean I was trying to hook you up with Paige," His mum complained.   "I know. I just wanted to surprise you guys and looks like it worked pretty well," a self-satisfactory smile wedged between his lips.   "So when is the wedding?" Mr. Valiente asked.   "Should I tell them or will you?" He gazed down at me adoringly.
