-Rose POV-
As Maximus rushes the creature in between Helix and me, I stumble and fall to the ground.
When I look back, Maximus has the creature on the ground with his hands on its neck. Without giving it a second thought, he snaps it. The creature stops moving and I am surprised because the thing looked like it could give a fight, but it didn’t.
Maximus takes deep breaths and gets up.
“What the hell is this?”
“That creature that I told you about. The one that was in the woods.” I say. “It’s what followed Dylan and me when we ran but then it was after me. I thought it had died in the currents of the river but I guess I was wrong.”
(I never thought it would follow me.)
