I could see the fear in Caius’ eyes, despite his desperate attempts to appear calm and in control. He was in awe of me. I still wanted to rip his throat out, and the taste of his blood was lingering in my mouth which was making it impossible for me to think about anything else. The wound I had inflicted on him wasn’t lethal, but the deep crimson trickling down his neck over his collarbone was evidence that I had broken the skin. I noticed his muscles bunch, and for a moment I thought that he might attack me. There was no anger in his eyes, but his chest was heaving and I crouched low to the ground and growled again in an attempt to intimidate him.
