“How are you feeling?” Caius was leaning over me when I woke up, and the rough stubble on his cheeks was evidence he hadn’t left my side while I was sleeping. The opium had done more than numb my pain and I had fallen asleep at some point as Caius remained seated at the end of the bed. “Better, I think,” I mumbled as I sat up slowly. I was hit by a wave of nausea - the tedious and inevitable trade off for drinking the Cretic wine to relieve my pain. At least the pain hadn’t returned, and when the initial wave of nausea passed I really was feeling better. I moved slowly to get out of bed, and planted my feet on the floor.
