I didn’t ask Caius where he was taking me. I hadn’t been blindfolded, and that was a vast improvement on the way he used to treat me. Wherever we were going he was riding his white horse, and for once he didn’t expect me to sit in front of him. He was wearing his armor - something he never did while we were alone at the Villa - and it made him look formidable. The breastplate was a shining silver metal which was shaped to his body in a way that emphasized his physique and I didn’t think that served any practical reason. He didn’t seem to have any weapons with him and as we rode side by side further away from the city I thought about why he could possibly need to wear that armor in the unbearable heat of the late afternoon sun  if he didn’t intend to fight me.
