My heart was pounding in my chest as the chariot changed course and continued to wind its way through the maze of streets that made up the heart of the city. I didn’t know where we were going, or whether Marius was upset or frustrated at me. He had simply announced that we would no longer be attending the theater and given me no further explanation. I thought it was better not to question him; he seemed to like the fact I was strong willed and spirited but that did not mean he would be happy about it if I started questioning him. Besides - I trusted that Cal would keep me safe, and that Marius was not going to take me anywhere dangerous. We made polite small talk in my native language for the rest of the journey until the chariot finally came to a stop on a road that was flanked by lux
