Chapter 19

Angela: "Hey, is not this the new lady? I wonder what is so special about her that made Mr. Henshaw choose her and purchase her last night," the first young woman said, her voice filled with jealousy. She wore a black short skirt and a pink crop top, as she had two canvas shoes on her feet. "Vivian, do not bother yourself about her. What matters now is that she is a member of the Dark Realm, and you know the law. No bullying of anyone," the second lady said, as she stepped forward. "Hi, I am Emery Landon, and she is Vivian Vincent. We are both twenty-three years old and work here in the harem. How about you?" Emery extended her right hand to me, her voice friendly, but I did not want to get close to anyone here. They knew about the auction, so I had assumed they had willingly sold themselves to be used by the Dark Realm harem. Or maybe they were employed to work here, since Rosa had said that not all the women here were for every man. "I am Angela Moraga. It is nice to meet you both," I said. As Emery smiled, Vivian rolled her eyes, clearly jealous. Emery looked free-spirited, while Vivian had a cold, sinister demeanor. "So you are already branded. Wow, you got a nice tattoo of Master Richard's name on your chest," Emery wanted to step forward and touch it, but I stepped backward. "Thanks, but the tattoo is still hurting, and I do not want anyone to touch it," I said, my voice gentle, and Emery smiled. "Alright. You are indeed lucky, but you know, being Master Richard's property simply means you are his s*x doll. So you do not have to play the innocent girl card here with us. Do you get it?" Emery asked, laughing, while Vivian coldly chimed in, "She wants to act as a virgin. Hahaha!" Their laughter echoed through the hallway, but I could smell their jealousy. They wished they were the ones who got branded by a mafia boss's son. "It is fine. It is better being an exclusive bìtch than being a woman for every man," I said, my voice icy, and they flinched. "Hey, mind how you talk to us. If you say anything silly here, I will deal with you!" Vivian yelled, her voice drawing attention. Rosa quickly rushed out from the opposite direction, and I saw two bodyguards standing by that I did not see before. "What is going on here?" Rosa asked, her tone laced with annoyance. "Madam Rosa, this silly young lady insulted us," Vivian quickly replied, as I stood there silently. "She insulted the Dark Realm Harem because she is not happy to be here," Vivian added, and Rosa scowled. "Vivian, the next time that you provoke Angela, you will be dismissed. Let me make it clear to you. You know Angela's master, Richard Henshaw, and you can see his name branded on her chest. If you love your family and have the fear of the Most High, stay away from Angela and do not dare to lay your dirty finger on her skin. Now apologize!" Vivian's eyes widened in shock when she heard Rosa's command. "I cannot apologize to Angela. I did not do anything wrong," Vivian tried to walk away, but Rosa commanded, "Guards!" The two guards came forward, and Vivian quickly said, "Fine, I will apologize. I am sorry, Angela." My brows furrowed at Vivian, knowing that her apology lacked sincerity. "On your knees and apologize to Angela again," Rosa said, her voice sharper than a sword. Vivian trembled; she glared at me and gritted her teeth. "Fine," Vivian mumbled, dropped down on her knees, and apologized to me, "I am sorry, Angela." Emery stood aside, her eyes widened in shock at the way Rosa had handled it. "Get up and get lost, and keep your distance from Angela. If you dare to come close to her again, do not forget there is twenty-four-hour surveillance here. You and your entire family will pay the price. You know what Mr. Richard is capable of," Rosa said, her eyes glaring at Vivian and then Emery. "Yes, ma'am," they replied and quickly ran away. Rosa turned to face me and apologized once more to me. Her apology came as a shock to me. "Miss Angela, I am sorry about those two nuisances. Do you want me to dismiss them? They work here as hired prostitutes," Rosa said, and I tensed. "Why should I be the one to fire them? They have the freedom to say whatever they like, and you do not need my permission to sack whoever you like. Just do not associate my name with them when you choose to deal with them," I said, feeling a throbbing headache, as I had not thought that Rosa was serious. But after she called the guards, I knew that I could not take her words for granted. As much as I would have loved to deal with Vivian, I did not want to make an enemy here. I had just arrived, and not even up to twenty-four hours, I had sacked someone. No way. "That is the privilege of being Mr. Richard's property. While many might not be aware that Richard Henshaw is my boss, you are his property, and he ordered me to ensure that you get treated well and not bullied by anyone." "What?" I looked shocked upon hearing that Richard was the boss of the Dark Realm. *Then why did Richard purchase me for fifty million dollars? Was that for show?* I pondered, but did not voice it out. However, I asked Rosa, "If you claim Richard was the boss, why did he have to pay to have me? He should have simply chosen me as his property without paying. So automatically the payment was fake and not real. And likewise that receipt. Why had I not thought about this? How can a man splurge fifty million dollars on an ordinary woman like me?" Rosa's eyes widened at my statement, but she lowered her voice and said, "I do not know how the auction works. But the other mafias are there. So anything sold is legal to them, as he must make the payment for real. Though Mr. Wesley Henshaw is the prime owner of the Dark Realm Auction, as the business has grown further and with the government of Top Hills' support, they had to be sure that any payment for any of the ladies was real. As they offer ten percent payment to the woman and also five percent to the orphanage homes. Did you not get a ten percent payment for agreeing to be sold last night?" "What?" I gasped, seeing that Rosa did not believe me when I told her that I never agreed to be sold or to be in this harem. So Isabella got ten percent. That is five million dollars. "No, I did not. I already told you that I was not the one who offered for myself to be sold. My elder sister did," I said, and Rosa's jaw dropped. "You are not lying to me, are you not?" "No. It is fine. Richard already made it clear that I am not going to be refunded, and I already signed. So there is no point going back," I said, and Rosa looked at me pitifully. "Do you want to get free? You can report to the police to have your sister arrested. Since she is the one at fault here," Rosa advised, and I laughed out like a maniac for the first time. This was the first time that I had a good laugh since all this drama. "Will the police be able to do anything against the Henshaws? If that is the case, then I will try it and see," I said, but remembering how Richard had threatened me with his gun and forced me to sign the contract. I smiled at Rosa and told her, "Do not worry about me. I am Richard Henshaw's property, and I will learn everything that you want to teach me. So that I can go back to my old life. Do not worry yourself about me." As I smiled at Rosa, she breathed out with relief and mumbled, "Fine. You can go to the fourth floor and order your meals." "Okay," I replied, got into the elevator, and disappeared to the fourth floor.
