"Xenia! Xenia!"
Alexander shouted her name urgently, trying to wake her. His voice was sharp and filled with panic as he leaned over her unconscious form.
The stinging pain from her wounds had overwhelmed her already frail body, leaving Xenia unable to bear it. She had passed out.
Alexander's worry deepened, and he immediately called for Eamon to come. Turning to Evelina, standing off to the side, he demanded furiously, "What kind of medicine did you use on Xenia? Did you do this on purpose? Why did she scream in such agony and then faint?"
Evelina's expression flickered with a hint of unease.
She hadn't expected this outcome. The cheap medicine was known to cause stinging pain, but she hadn't anticipated that Xenia would be so delicate as to faint.
