Xenia felt like the ground had been ripped out from under her.
She couldn't accept this. "Why? Why does it have to be this way? My brother has done nothing wrong. What did he do to deserve this?"
Alexander reached out, steadying her before she could collapse under the weight of the news.
His expression was cold as he frowned. "We successfully kept this from Lucas. Everything was under control. Who told him about the kidnapping?"
"It was a nurse," Gideon answered. "I didn't recognize her. She was pretty, young too, but her eyes... not as bright as Xenia's."
He didn't know the nurse's name.
And with Lucas still unconscious, there was no way to get an answer from him either.
