On the lawn outside the wedding venue, Hawaiian music begins playing from the DJ. Madelyn lets out her breathless laugh. “Well, it wouldn’t be a wedding without the music and dancing!”
As my new stepmother starts to dance with her daughter, the two laughing and spinning, I walk up to my father’s side. The two of us say nothing for a moment.
