The entire drive, Arden was tightly gripping his steering wheel. Most of his focus was on trying to prepare his mind for what he intended to do tonight.
After leaving his car in his usual parking lot, nearly at the same spot where he and Kade had run into each other a week ago, he walked the remaining distance to the nightclub.
In his distraction, he barely paid attention to anything other than putting one foot in front of the other. He was already in front of Big Joe before he knew it, and the bald and bulky man couldn’t help but notice at once that something was off with his boss.
For one thing, Arden didn’t give him the usual casual greeting. He only stared at Big Joe with blank tenseness, as if whatever thoughts he was lost in were making him freeze up.
