Chapter One

1747 Words
2 years later Blaiz It had been two years since the accident. Two years since Carter died. Two years since I was saved by an angel. That is the only logical explanation. We’ve searched high and low for her. Asked everybody who was around that day. Nobody knows who the woman is. Somehow, not a single person saw the woman pull three large men out of a burning vehicle. So she must be an angel. I can still hear her voice and the comforting words, “There you go, sir. Help will be here soon.” Little did she know, she was the help we needed most. I wanted so badly to show her my gratitude. No matter who she is or what she does, it was the least I could do for her bravery. If only I could find her. “Blaiz, I need your help with something,” the most infuriating woman whined, breaking me from my thoughts. I looked up to see my ex-wife standing in front of my desk and immediately felt nauseated. Like always, she was dressed like a modern-day hooker, and I just knew… like always... all she wanted was more of my money. “What do you want?” I asked, void of all emotion. “Baby, I got scammed. They stole all of my money, and now I don’t have the funds to buy groceries for me and Dominique,” she whined, pouting her thin bird lips at me. As I glared at the blonde bimbo that I once loved, I thought to myself, what in the hell was I thinking? Sure, she has an hourglass figure, perfect unblemished skin, a beautiful heart-shaped butt, luscious blonde hair, and big, beautiful blue eyes. You know… the cheerleader next door who is lusted after by all the guys. But she is also easy, sleazy, dumb and manipulative. “Go to the police and have them help you out, or go to your other ex-husband, but first take my son home. To my home. Leave him with Syrana, then go deal with your own bullshit,” I snarled, annoyed with her utter stupidity. I was sure my boy was standing outside in the hall, despite the fact that he should have been at school, but she always brought him in case I refused to help. Despite being so dumb, she sure knew how to use our son to manipulate me for her own damn gain. “How am I to get there without money to put gas in my car?” she pouted. “Stop it, Abrielle. You know it pisses me off when you pout like a damn child,” I growled, making her straighten her posture and glare back. “Come on, Blaizy. You know I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t need your help,” she grumbled, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “Fine,” I sighed, reaching into my pocket and pulling out my wallet. As a tossed a five dollar bill at her, I demanded, “Now get the f**k out of my office and take my son home.” “Okay, okay!” she exclaimed, throwing her hands up and backing away in a dramatic manner. The second she disappeared from my view, I ran my hands through my hair and sighed. It didn’t matter what Abrielle did, I would always hold a small amount of love for her, but I could never give her another chance. Not after everything she has done to hurt me. Tiselle “Would you like me to wrap this for you?” the brown-haired cashier asked. “No, thanks,” I responded with a smile while handing her my debit card. As she ran the card, she asked, “Do you have big plans for Thanksgiving?” I could feel my smile widen as I answered, “Yes! For the first time ever, I am spending the holiday with a man who truly loves me. So much so, I think he is planning to propose.” “Congratulations!” she cheerfully replied, handing my card back to me. “Thanks so much! I just know he is going to love this gift,” I said, taking the small bag that followed my card. “You’re welcome! I hope you have a wonderful holiday and that he proposes!” the cashier replied with a genuine smile on her face. I nodded, returned the smile and said, “Thank you,” then I turned on my heel and left the store. As I walked through the crowded mall in the direction of the exit door closest to my car, I thought about the past nine months. I’d had so many laughs, and so much fun with Seth. We met just after Valentine's Day at a business convention. He took one look at my designs and loved them so much, he offered me a job. Within a week, he wooed me until I couldn’t resist his charms any longer and from there it had been a whirlwind of s*x, shopping, wining and dining. It was so much different than the life I had always known. Never could I have even thought about buying someone a gift as expensive as the one I carried in this bag. But here I was, doing just that. All because of this one man entering my life. Without Seth, I wouldn’t have had a chance to make it as a designer. I felt a strong sense of pride, being able to purchase a luxury item using my own hard-earned money. After going without any luxury items as a kid, it was like a dream come true. All that was missing was the ring on my finger to show the world I am his, and he is mine. Then my dream would be complete and ready for the next chapter to begin. When I finally reached my car, I placed the bag on the seat beside my purse, then I made the short trip home, where Seth and I live together. As I pulled into the driveway, I was surprised to see Seth’s black Mercedes already parked. Excitement filled my entire being! He rarely came home early from work, and whenever he did, there was always good news to be shared. I rushed into the house and first hid the present in my desk drawer before making my way to our bedroom. The door was slightly ajar, and I was just about to push it open when I heard a woman softly moan followed by Seth mumbling, “You like that, don’t you?” “Don’t stop,” a familiar voice mumbled in return. The sound of her moaning mixed with him suckling filled the room as I pushed the door open just enough to see my man having s*x with my supposed best friend. Or should I say making love to her. “What the f**k!?!” I yelled out, feeling my rage bubbling up fast and heavy. They both jumped. Seth off of Annihya and that betraying b***h nearly out of her skin. Without thought, I sprinted across the room and grabbed Annihya by her hair. Dragging her out of my bed, I hissed, “You filthy f*****g slut, I am going to make you regret this.” Just as her body was about to fall off the bed, Seth grabbed her with one hand while knocking me to the floor with his other hand. My elbow took the blunt of the fall, and it hurt like hell. I looked up at my supposed boyfriend to see him gently laying Annihya on our bed. The next second, he spun around and looked at me with nothing but sheer disgust. “Who the f**k do you think you are?” he bellowed with his face red and distorted from anger. “I am your girlfriend! Not that skanky b***h!” I yelled in return, as I got back to my feet, but I wasn’t standing long. The back of Seth’s hand landed hard against my cheek, causing it to instantly split open from the ring he was wearing. I fell back to the floor, landing on the same elbow, and there was no mistaking the sound of something snapping. I screamed out in pain, but Seth didn’t care. Apparently, he never did, or he wouldn’t have done what he did next. Grabbing me by my hair, he dragged me out of the bedroom, then he kicked me three times on the right side of my body. As I laid there, gasping from the pain in my ribs, he cruelly spat, “Get your s**t and get the f**k out of my house. I never want to see your ugly face again.” Without another look, he walked back into the bedroom we had been sharing for the past 6 months. After slamming the door, I heard the click of the lock followed by the mumbled words, “Finally, I am done with that pathetic b***h. I don’t know what I ever saw in her.” “Come here, baby. My head hurts now. I need you to make me feel better,” Annihya mumbled in return. “You will both pay,” I vowed, as I crawled to the study where I had left my purse. Upon reaching my desk, I used it and my good arm to pull myself up to a standing position. My legs were fine, but my ribs and elbow clearly weren’t. Pain pulsed from both, and I knew I needed medical help. After sloppily cramming all of my new designs into my briefcase, I grabbed my purse along with the expensive gift, then I left the place I had been calling home with no intention of ever returning. When I reached my car, I glanced back for one last look to see the two of them standing in the window together, watching me. A new round of tears welled beneath my eyelids, but I refused to let any more of them drop in front of those backstabbing assholes. Despite the pain in my ribs, I straightened my back and flipped them off before getting in my car and throwing it into reverse. Luckily, I had kept my money in a separate bank account, so I knew I would be okay. For now, I just need to get myself to the hospital. Once there, I can work on booking a room somewhere.
