The late afternoon sun filtered through the broad glass windows of the café, catching on Isabella’s hair as she swung her legs happily beneath her chair. Marian tried not to stare at Daniel—the way his presence filled the space, the way his eyes softened every time they landed on her. She had forgotten how intense he could be without even trying. “So what do you think?” Daniel leaned back, casually draping his arm over the back of his chair, but his gaze was anything but casual. “You can stay with me so you don’t have to look for a hotel.
