Selene's POV
Ethan nodded. “Fine. I didn’t want to tell you at first, but I think you deserve to know.”
“Okay…” I braced myself. “Go on.”
He looked at me carefully. “Do you remember the car accident Camilla was involved in a few weeks ago?”
My heart skipped. I nodded slowly. “Yes. What about it?”
“Well…” He sighed. “I heard that Camilla almost went to jail for it. But Victor stepped in. He paid off the victim with five million dollars. Just to make sure Camilla wouldn’t be touched.”
I blinked. Then blinked again. Five… five million?
“I’m sorry, what?”
He repeated it, slower this time. “Victor paid five million dollars to cover up the accident.”
My stomach twisted, and my head started spinning.
