Selene's POV
The moment Victor left the castle, I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding. My hands were still shaking.
Ethan turned to me, his golden eyes intense. "You should have let the guards finish. He deserved more."
I crossed my arms. "They hurt him enough."
"Not even close." He paced like a caged wolf. "After everything he's done…"
"I know what I'm doing," I interrupted.
Ethan stopped, his jaw tight. "Do you? Because one minute you're swearing to divorce him, the next you're moving back into his pack?"
I stepped closer, lowering my voice. "It's just for a month. Then he signs the papers. That was the deal."
His gaze softened, just a little. "Don't let him manipulate you, Selene."
"I won't." I reassured him, squeezing his arm. "I promise."
