Selene's POV
Some of the council members started whispering to one another, while others stared down at their phones with wide eyes and mouths moving without sound.
“What rubbish are you saying?!” Alpha Dimitri’s voice suddenly tore through the silence. He stood up, slamming both fists against the table. “This is slander. A lowly Omega making noise just to be seen.”
Thankfully, Victor intervened before Dimitri could speak again.
“Father, please sit down and let her finish.”
Dimitri blinked in surprise. “You are letting this girl…”
Victor’s chair scraped back as he stood up, tall and cold, looking like every inch of the Alpha he was born to be. His eyes locked on Dimitri, dark and unreadable. “I said, sit.”
