Selene's POV Her voice—smooth, smug, way too confident—wrapped around my name like it belonged to her. For a second, I considered pretending I didn’t hear her. I could have kept walking, but before I could even take a full step, the sound of heels clicked behind me. “Selene,” she called again, louder this time. And then Victor spoke. “Selene, wait.” I rolled my eyes and turned around slowly, lifting my chin, my eyes sharp, trying not to let them see how badly my hands were shaking.
