I stared at the window for a moment, watching the trees swaying in the wind outside. For the first time in days, I actually felt... lighter. The burden I had been dragging around since I heard about the vote, since I had looked Victor in the eye and realized he didn’t see me at all—it all faded just a little.
“You really think Ethan agreed just like that?” I asked, rubbing small circles over my belly.
