Anthony's POV
I could still hear Selene crying.
Even after she ended the call, her sobs echoed in my head like a curse I couldn’t shake off. She had tried to act fine, but I knew better.
I didn’t think. I didn’t ask for permission. I just grabbed my keys and stormed out.
“I’m going to Nightshade,” I told my men. “I don’t care what Victor thinks. I’m going to see Selene.”
One of them, Simon, looked nervous. “If you do this, Alpha, it could be seen as an act of war.”
“I’m not going there to fight. I’m going there to see Selene.”
He hesitated for a moment, then did something I didn’t expect. He took out his phone.
“I’ll inform Prince Ethan,” he said under his breath. “Maybe he can back us up.”
