Victor's POV My boots pounded against the wet stones as I ran past the main hall, past the courtyard, and all the way to the guest house to see Selene. When I finally reached the guest room door and pushed it open without knocking, I was surprised to find it empty. The bed was stripped bare, and the curtains were drawn. My eyes searched every corner, desperate for any sign of her—her shoes by the door, her scent lingering in the air—but there was nothing. “Where is she?” I asked, my voice rough as I turned around.
