34~ DELIRIOUS I-LOVE-YOU: PART I

1201 Words
When I closed my eyes, the last thing I remembered was a glimpse of a red werewolf. I only saw its back view for a split second before it bolted toward Thomas at fast speed. It was as if it went to intercept the upcoming attack on me. That was when I was in the forest, being tied up to a tree. The wound on my back dripped the blood to the ground next to my feet and perhaps seeping its crimson color to the tree that bound me as well. This was the last thing I could recall. I had no idea what happened afterward. Because after I closed my eyes that time, I didn’t open it back. Not until… now. “Ugh…” A groan escaped my lips when I tried to move. My body ached all over like a hundred horses have trampled on it. But the pain wasn’t the only thing that made me complain. It was the smell of blood and herbs that filled my nose when I breathed in. Yes. I was lying flat on my stomach on the bed. The bedsheet was the first thing that greeted my vision when I opened my eyes. It wasn’t the ceiling. Where am I? I thought to myself. I lifted my head and tilted it to another side. I had to blink a few times to make my eyes adjust to the blinding light shining through the window. When my vision stopped getting blurred, what I saw almost made my lungs malfunction. I sucked in a breath upon the proximity that made my heart pulsate like a beating drum. Edward’s face was only a few inches from mine. He had half of his face hidden by the mattress, and the remaining exposed part was buried under the black hair as dark as the sky on a moonless night. Still, nothing could hide the handsomeness of the high cheekbones on that oblong texture. Not to mention the thick and long black eyelashes that could bring shame to women. I doubted if mine had even half the volume of his. My lips curved up into a smile despite the ache all over every inch of my body. The more I stared at him, the more my heart fluttered. I couldn’t help but continue to look at his sleeping face. It was as if I wanted to imprint this image permanently at the back of my head. You’re my bodyguard, aren’t you? Then you should’ve stayed close to me like this all the time. The smile on my face grew wider at this inner voice. But it was short-lived. Hold on. Another thought intervened. And that led me to the following questions: How did he end up sleeping here instead of in his own room? Had he been here this whole time? How long had he been right next to my side like this? I didn’t know how many hours or days I had been out. But to wake up and see him first thing in the morning, it should be typical that my heart was deeply touched. This proved that he cared for me. This showed that he cared about me. He wasn’t mad at me anymore. “Thank you for being here with me,” I murmured in a low voice that was barely audible to my ears. Without knowing, my hand moved on its own to brush the loose strands of hair off his face. “Miss!” A loud voice echoed throughout the room, followed by a clang. “You’re awake! Finally!” My body jolted in surprise at the noise. “Ouch.” Another painful groan escaped my lips at the muscle contractions. Seriously, Lumina. Do you have to yell like that? I almost had a heart attack because of you. I kept the thought to myself. Edward opened his eyes and sat bolt upright. The pair of his deep-set black eyes landed on mine, showing a combination of surprise and exhilaration. “Are you alright? How long have you been awake? Are you thirsty? Do you want any food?” A series of questions came out of Edward’s lips, leaving me speechless and shocked. He wasn’t the type to talk a lot, but now, I didn’t know which one of the questions to answer first. “I… I…” My voice was still hoarse. I cleared my throat and was about to try again when he stopped me. “It’s okay. You don’t have to speak if it’s hard for you. Maybe your throat is dry. Let’s drink something first.” Edward reached out to my hand and squeezed it. He smiled, giving me a reassuring gaze before turning to Lumina. “Get me a glass of water.” “Y-yes, sir. Right away.” Lumina regained her composure and ran toward the table where I usually had my meal. “No,” said Edward. His eyes still followed her movement. “It’s cold. Go to the kitchen and get a glass of warm water. You should also tell the chief to reheat the soup. She needs some food in her system.” “I’m on it.” Lumina nodded and headed toward the door. But before she made it to the exit, Edward’s voice halted her step. “Wait.” She turned around. “Is there anything else, sir?” “Yes. Don’t forget to bring another basin of hot water so that Lae can wash her face. You already spilled the last one.” He looked to the wet ground, where Lumina dropped the basin in shock when she found me awake. “And tell Dila to come here as well. Since Lae is awake now, you girls should help her clean up. It has been a week since she changed her clothes.” “But do you think it’s a good idea for her wound to touch the water? If she was to take a bath—” “No.” Edward cut her off. “I didn’t say that she is going to take a bath. You all just need to wipe her with wet clothes, like usual. Then you’ll help her get dressed in a new set of clothes.” “I understand, sir.” She nodded. “Good. Now, go.” And with that, Lumina disappeared into the hall. I could hear her footsteps loud and clear as she ran toward the kitchen in haste. I wanted to tell her not to run in case she might fall and hurt herself. However, I didn’t think I had enough strength to say it aloud. “Come. I’ll help you up. The wound is still healing. You can’t make big movements by yourself. Be careful not to tear the stitches.” Edward stood on his feet before kneeling on the bed, careful not to step on my body. “Wait. Did you say…. stitches?” My jaws dropped open in shock as I looked up at him. ^ . ^ ©️StellaKMary | The Princess And Her Alpha Bodyguard A/N: The content that reflects the title of this chapter will be covered in Part II. xD Thanks for your patience.
