Lexi’s POV
Our surroundings turned pin-drop silent as if they too were in misery for me and Brie. It was the last time I saw his intoxicating blue eyes. Now, he was peacefully sleeping as darkness ruled over us because of the eclipse. Occasionally the tree rustled and the gentle wind blew past us, but the candles were undisturbed and kept lighting the dark forest.
“Lexi, Chris’s soul has been taken by the elders,” Levana informed him.
“Can I kiss him one last time?” My voice came out as a cry.
Brian kept his hand on my shoulder. “Lexi, you still have time. Don’t do this, Lex.”
