“Who is there?” Dagan called out again, louder this time. Riley was silently crying, the tears streaming down her face as she realized we would be caught. I quickly entered her mind and calmed her down. I had a plan. A plan for her to get out.
“Sshh, don’t cry. You need to be strong, stay here, stay hidden until you are alone and then make a run for it,” I informed her mentally. Riley sniffed and wiped her face before nodding. She didn’t look happy with the plan, but she knew that she was my only hope. I could hear footsteps and they were getting closer, if I wanted to save Riley then now was my moment. I stood up and with a brave face and my big girl panties and I faced a very surprised Dagan.
