9 DAISY While I appreciated my husband’s profession and what he did for others, I was beginning to see how his time was not his own. Illness or accidents did not occur when it was convenient and Ethan would always need to put his personal life second to his job. That meant I had to put my time with my husband second to the town. As I washed my hands at the sink, I felt a wave of selfishness over him and wished whoever was at the door could have just waited an hour until Ethan could have had his needs met. He’d certainly made me come, but I had to imagine he was more than a little aroused and possibly uncomfortable because of it. I, too, was a tad uncomfortable.
