After biology, I lead Owen out through the side doors and down towards the lake. The late morning is pale and unsettled, autumn light breaking sharply through the clouds before disappearing again behind darker ones. The grounds shift with it, bright one moment and muted the next. Perfect. A flawless sky would be boring. There is no balance in perfection. The path curves along the water towards the botanical garden, bordered by reeds on one side and clipped hedges and low stone edging on the other.
