Dr. Parks smiled back and shook his head a little. “That is where I was meant to be today, anyway. I only came into the office to see you because you called.” His face flushed with color. “They called me to say that you were coming in. They should have sent you directly to the hospital to see me instead of booking you to see the other doctor.”
He walked closer to her and reached out his hand. “Stand up slowly,” he said as he guided her up. As she stood, it came to her that she had never walked into the room.
