043: In our backyard

~~PEYTON~~ It rings again. Longer this time. Impatient. “Axel,” I pant, more like a panicked whimper. “Someone’s at the door.” “Then shoo them away,” he says, as if this is as straightforward as it seems. “Do you see any neighbors around? We don't have neighbors, no friends, and I didn't order anything. So it's either the police, the FBI, or a family member. Take a guess.” I snap, pushing off him. The moment my feet touch the ground, I'm scrambling around, picking up my panties and clothes in the hallway. Gripping them to my chest, I race upstairs. Five steps in, I stop and turn around. “Go hide or cover yourself. Just in case.” Axel, God bless his stubborn heart, just stood there muttering curses that sound like five languages all at once. His profanity might even scare a pirate.
