Georgia went back to Sylvester's house to pick up her bags, as she dragged her box out of the room, she glanced at it one last time before leaving without turning back. She had plans of lodging at a hotel, even though her elder brother had called her back home, she didn't feel comfortable staying with them, especially after the decisions she took in the past. Standing in front of Sylvester's house with her box beside her, and her fancy purse across her shoulders, she quickly booked a ride and after that, she kept her phone back into purse and let the cool air hit across her face. Ten minutes later, as she looked up ahead of her, she saw a car approaching her, and she guessed that it was the ride she ordered when it stopped in front of her. The driver helped her place her box in the boot before she settled in and he drove off towards the direction of the hotel. When Georgia arrived at the hotel, she went to the counter to go book herself a room. After that, the receptionist handed her card and the keys over to her. "Enjoy your stay here, Ma'am." She said. "I will. Thanks." Georgia muttered with a small smile. With the direction given, it didn't take her much time to find her room. Walking inside with her luggage, she gently shut the door quietly behind her as she proceeded to the wardrobe to arrange her clothes. She had plans of staying at the hotel for quite a while. Georgia kept her box beside the nightstand with a small sigh after arranging her clothes. She glanced around the room, taking in her surroundings, from the white curtains and bedsheets to the cyan coloured linen, the floor-to-ceiling. The room was up to her taste and was quite large. She took in a deep breath when she remembered that she was supposed to go meet her family members, after all these years. She had rebuked their advice just to be with Sylvester, but yet, she got nothing in return. All the years she had spent in his house was all in vain. She had lost the connection she had with her family and best friend just for Sylvester, yet he only repaid her by making her feel less of a woman. The thought of facing her father and brother again after all that had happened brought a feeling of shame over her. The fact that she was going to see them as a divorced woman and not with the love of her life was shameful to her, her enemies would definitely laugh at her. She would be a laughing stock, but it didn't matter anymore, it was her fault, she had brought this upon herself. If only she had listened to their advice, she wouldn't be here now regretting the years of wasted life. How was she even going to face her younger brother? They had been so close before she made her wrong choice. Would he even want to see her face again? Would she even have the courage to do so? All those thoughts swirled in her mind as she made her way towards the bathroom to have a quick shower. Few minutes later, Georgia walked out of the bathroom with a white towel wrapped around her body, as she used another towel to try her hair. After that, she picked out a black gown from her closet and put on, she decided to wear a flat sandals, she wasn't ready to wear heels. She picked up her purse and her phone before walking out of the room and locking it behind her. She flagged down a cab that drove her to her family's residence. When the car was pulled to a stop, she paid the cab man before stepping down, she stared at the beautiful mansion in front of her. It was still as big and fine as she remembered, it had been three years, three long years since she came here, different thoughts ran through her mind as she finally lifted her foot and took a step forward, but once she reached the front of the door, she felt as if her feet couldn't move further. She was stucked, tears burned at the sides of her eyes, but they refused to fall, maybe because she was clearly at fault and the tears wouldn't do anything to stop the guilt that was slowly eating her up. Just then, she felt a strong hand push her forward from behind, and she stumbled forward and almost hit the door but she managed to hold herself. She quietly thanked God that she had decided to wear flats, if not her ankle would have probably sprained. With the little courage she had left in her, she turned around to see who had pushed her. Her breath caught in her face when she beheld the face that was staring at her with a look of disbelief. May. The only best friend she ever had. The only best friend she lost when she chose Sylvester over them. Words caught in her throat, she didn't know what to say. Was she supposed to say hi? Apologize for her previous actions? Pull her into a hug? "What are you doing here? Standing outside? Aren't you going to walk in?" May finally asked with a raised brow. Georgia eyes stunged with tears, her voice still sounded the same even after all these years. Oh how she'd missed her friend. Did she still have the right to call her that? She wondered. She wanted to pull May into a tight hug, but she was afraid that she'd push her away. "Hey! I'm talking to you." May said, her voice louder this time. "I'm sorry." Georgia apologized. May stared at her questioningly, wondering what the reason for her apology was. "I'm sorry, I was lost for a moment." Georgia added, grasping the edge of her gown tightly. Instead of a response, May moved forward, grabbed her hands and dragged her into the living room that Georgia wasn't sure when the door opened. She gasped inwardly, she didn't think she was ready to face her brother and father yet. When her eyes ran into her father's who was seated in the living with her brother and she knew that it was too late to back out. It was now or never. She was going to brace herself for the worse. But what could possibly be the worst? Nothing right? Yes, nothing. She was probably just overthinking it, but what if she wasn't?.
